My Future Car THE Nissan Pivo

PREVIEWED AT THE TOKYO MOTOR SHOW 2005

THIS CAR TURNS ENTIRELY AVOIDING THE NEED TO REVERSE...HOW DAMN CO..OOOOOOOOOOl. Tokyo show is usually filled with funky concepts that look like something out of a science fiction story or comic book. This year's show was (sadly) short on these, save for the Nissan Pivo concept. An electric car, it is a showcase for Nissan's advanced technology, including a complex drive-by-wire system. Power comes from a compact lithium-ion battery driving Nissan's Super Motor-one on each axle. And, you never have to back up…the car's three-person egg-shaped cabin, with a center driving position, rotates 360 degrees. The A-pillars are see-through and Nissans Around View Monitoring system reduces blind spots. Pivo won't be at your dealer anytime soon, but the car harbors several elements of our driving future.
